Digital Archive of Colonial Latin America UCHRI Project

A UC Humanities Research Institute project developed with UC Santa Barbara

Summary

The primary aim of ths project was to develop some tools to publish the thousands of images digitized by Neogranadina and its institutional partners in Popayán and Tunja. It also sought to develop, adapt, and implement tools for the collaborative creation of the catalogs and archival descriptions necessary to make this material truly accessible, and to share the results of this process for free as open access so that they could be used and improved by anyone.

Achievements

  • The development and experimentation made possible by this project resulted in two of Neogranadina’s platforms, the Collective Catalog of Colombian Archives and the Collective Archive.

Partners
